If you want to separate the web service and mail handling, you should configure the records in the following way, depending on the variant:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(wherever your-domain.au was used, insert your own domain)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Domain DNS at registrar set to smarthost.au<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color\"><em><strong>If the website is to be served by smarthost servers while the mail is to be handled remotely, you should:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>modify the<strong> MX <\/strong>record for this domain by entering <strong>mail.your-domain.au <\/strong>in the destination field.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>change the type of the record named <strong>mail.your-domain.au<\/strong> to type <strong>A<\/strong> and set its value to the IP of the <strong>external server<\/strong>.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(Optional) If the server uses<strong> DKIM<\/strong> and <strong>SPF<\/strong>, please:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>obtain the value and the names of the <strong>DKIM<\/strong> record from an <strong>external host<\/strong> and add it to us as a separate <strong>TXT <\/strong>record (DON&#8217;T MODIFY THE EXISTING ONE)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>modify the <strong>TXT<\/strong> record containing the <strong>SPF<\/strong> by adding the <strong>IP<\/strong> serving the <strong>external mail server<\/strong>.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>change the routing in the <strong>Email <\/strong>tab in cPanel to <strong>Remote mail exchange service<\/strong>.<br><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color\"><em><strong>If the website is to be hosted by an external server while mail is to be handled by smarthost servers:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>change the <strong>A record<\/strong> for this domain by entering the IP address of the external server in its value. <br>If you have <strong>subdomains <\/strong>that are also to use the remote server, you must also change their <strong>A records <\/strong>by entering the IP address of the external server in their value.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>change the <strong>MX record <\/strong>for the domain, specifying <strong>mail.your-domain.au<\/strong> at the destination.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Domain DNS set at the registrar to an external server<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color\"><strong><em>If the website is to be served by smarthost servers while the mail is to be handled remotely, you should::<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>change the <strong>A record<\/strong> supporting the domain on the <strong>external hosting<\/strong> by entering the IP address of the smarthost server in its value (usually it starts with <strong>51.161<\/strong>\u2026 and it is visible on the <strong>right side in cpanel in the General Information section as Shared IP Address or Dedicated IP Address<\/strong>)<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additionally, if you have subdomains which are also supposed to use the smarthost server, you should also change their<strong> A records<\/strong> by entering the <strong>IP address<\/strong> of our server in its value.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color\"><em><strong>If the website is to be served by an external server while mail is to be served by smarthost servers:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Configure <strong>MX records <\/strong>according to the recommendations of the external hosting by setting the IP of the smarthost server (usually it starts with <strong>51.161<\/strong>\u2026 and it is visible on the <strong>right side in cpanel under General Information as Shared IP Address or Dedicated IP address<\/strong>).<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Our servers use <strong>DKIM<\/strong> and <strong>SPF<\/strong> records, so you should:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>obtain from our hosting the value and names of the <strong>DKIM<\/strong> record and add it to the <strong>external hosting<\/strong> as a separate <strong>TXT record <\/strong>(DON&#8217;T MODIFY THE EXISTING ONE).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>modify the <strong>TXT<\/strong> record containing the <strong>SPF<\/strong> by adding the <strong>IP<\/strong> of the smarthost server (<strong>51.161&#8230;<\/strong>).<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color\"><strong>If the website as well as the mail are to be served by a smarthost server it will be most comfortable to change the DNS for this domain at the registrar to smarthost servers, i.e:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
